Guidlines and FAQ's

  • No. Protecting manageable class sizes for our current students is a top priority. Transfer applications will be approved based on available space and current enrollment in each grade level. The district has established transfer limits by grade that take into account both current class sizes and anticipated growth from families who reside within the district.

Shallowater ISD is not seeking to increase class sizes or add teaching positions as a result of accepting transfer students. Instead, this limited transfer opportunity is designed to help stabilize enrollment while preserving the high-quality educational experience, programs, and resources our students and families expect.

  • Considerations for transfer applicants are based on the following:

    1. Remaining capacity at the particular grade level/class as well as any special program for which the student is seeking admission. Consideration shall be based on the impact of additional students in that grade or program, on facilities, staffing, and the educational opportunities of resident students.

    2. The disciplinary record of the student seeking admission

    3. The attendance record of the student seeking admission

    4. The academic record of the student seeking admission (including grades and test scores)

    5. The student's/parents' compliance with district and campus policies and regulations

  • Your application will be reviewed and considered by a campus committee. Applicants can expect to hear from the campus principal directly regarding an admission decision by August 1st.

  • For non-staff transfers, this is a tuition-required program of $1,800.00 per student (or $4,500 for a family of 3 or more) per year and open only to students in grades 1-5. (Existing transfers will not experience a change in transfer fee amounts at this time).

  • Yes. Each individual application will require a nonrefundable $50 application fee before being processed. Students will be reviewed on an individual basis. Admission of one sibling does not guarantee admission of additional siblings.

  • No. At this time, transfers are only open to grades 1-5.
