"The most important goal to me within the School Board is to ensure the success of our students and staff. It is an absolute joy to combine my love for Education and our community of Shallowater all in one place." --Dr. Alana Hayes

My family has been Shallowater residents for several generations. In fact, I am the third generation to serve on this very board within my family. Both my Great Grandfather and Grandfather served for many years. It is one of the highest honors of my life to serve in their footsteps.

Not only do I have four children attending school here on three different campuses, but I am a current business owner within our town and have been an educator in Kindergarten, First grade, and Fourth grade. As a former educator, I bring valuable first-hand experience & insight into the challenges & opportunities within the educational system. I am uniquely qualified to represent the needs of students, teachers, and staff. My practical knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum development, & student support enables me to make well-informed decisions that directly impact the quality of education within our district. Additionally, my understanding of daily realities faced by educators & students allows me to advocate for policies that promote inclusive, effective, and equitable learning environments.

I hold a Masters degree in Education Administration, and a Doctorate in Global Leadership.

I have co-written several published papers on Educational Leadership, Small Texas School Districts’ Response to State Funding Reductions, and Instructional Competency with Supervisor Feedback. I have also spoke in Austin at the Texas Association of School Administrators Conference. As a teacher I was an active member of the Texas State Teacher Association and served as an Emerging Leader for the non-profit in Austin. I am currently serving on a committee for SISD called SHAC where I have the privilege to meet with the leaders and educators of our school quarterly and have had the honor to do this for the last couple of years.

My husband Ben and I are PROUD SUPPORTERS of Shallowater ISD, and it's one of our favorite pastimes to attend games with our family.
