2022 Bond Construction - September Update

The summer was filled with several interior renovations in the older sections of the middle school and high school and finish work on the second story of the high school. With students back in the buildings, the focus of the work has shifted to the outdoors and the project additions that will go up at middle school, intermediate, and elementary. The most visible is the elementary addition that looks like a giant sandbox full of Tonka trucks moving dirt around. The workers have actually been installing the foundation footings, along with plumbing and electrical. The slab is scheduled to be poured mid to late October.  At the back of the Intermediate, the same type of foundation is being completed with slab placement beginning at the end of this month. These projects should go vertical before Thanksgiving.

You may notice when you visit the Middle School a brighter, expanded office area and a very visible office for our police officer to monitor the entrance. Meanwhile, the gym has begun foundation work and utilities will be installed over the next few weeks. The gym will be tilt-wall construction with the walls being built on a slab and then hoisted into place. What a great opportunity for our middle school students to see construction at work!  The Field House addition on the Indoor Facility had its slab poured last week, and it will begin to take shape soon. Interior work has been completed in the existing area, and this one will move along quickly soon.

Another big project that will begin this fall will be reworking our keying system for all the buildings with a master plan that will be much more efficient and safer, along with upgrading accessibility. In addition, we will be installing access points for first responders to gain access and maps for buildings for any emergency that might arise.

Thank you for supporting our kids and our teachers in expanding and enhancing our learning spaces. There is more ahead!
