Election Information

The Shallowater ISD Board of Trustees consists of seven trustees.  General election of Board Trustees shall be on the May uniform election date conducted on the first Saturday in May of each year in accordance with the Texas Secretary of State Uniform Election Calendar. Board members shall be elected for three-year terms, with elections conducted annually, as follows:

  • The election of three Board members shall be held in 2024, 2027, 2030, and in three-year intervals thereafter.
  • The election of two Board members shall be held in 2025, 2028, 2031, and in three-year intervals thereafter.
  • The election of two Board members shall be held in 2023, 2026, 2029, and in three-year intervals thereafter.

The method of voting for a candidate to be elected is at large. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes for the number of seats with expiring terms shall be elected.

 

 


 

General Trustee Election:  May 2, 2026

The next Shallowater ISD General Election will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 for the purpose of electing two trustees at large.  Early Voting and Election Day Voting locations will be posted at a later date.

The first day to file an Application for Place on the Ballot in the May 2, 2026 General Election will be Wednesday, January 14. 2026; the last day to file an Application for Place on Ballot will be Friday, February 13, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.  Drawing for Place on Ballot will be Friday, February 13, 2026 at 5:15 p.m.

Eligibility / Qualifications

    • A United States citizen;
    • A qualified registered voter in the district;
    • At least 18 years of age;
    • Have not been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court;
    • Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting  disabilities;
    • A resident of the district for 6 months and resident of the state for 12 months before the filing deadline; and
    • Satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office.
    • Trustees must retain all qualifications while in office.
    • Registered voter in the territory from which the office is elected on the date described above.
    • Not eligible to serve as a trustee of an independent school district if I am required to register as a sex offender under Chapter 62, Code of Criminal Procedure.
